Biscornu

Malinda received the biscornu I stitched for her for the Tiny Treasures Exchange so I am safe in showing a picture of it now. :o)

I used a pattern from Cross Stitch Happy on 28ct tea dyed Monaco. I used the DMC floss as charted. I did not enjoy stitching with the Light Effects floss (the sparkly one) as I found it very abrasive and prone to tangling. It does give a very nice effect to the dragonfly motif so I suppose it was worth the trouble.

I would like to have one of these for myself but I don't think I am up to stitching another one of these right now. Maybe again in a month or two...

A Stitchy Update

Hello! I hope you all had a great weekend and managed to do some stitching or sewing. I worked and was busy with house things but since my last update I did finish a few things.

First is the April piece from the Oak Haven Designs SAL. I looked in several stores and couldn't find a frame I liked so I made my own. I used Peltex covered in fabric for the frame and used a bit of purple cording to further frame the design. I think it turned out okay for my "on the fly" effort. :o)

Next, I finished stitching the May piece from OHD. I am thinking I may finish this one up as a pinkeep.

And last but not least, I finished the stitching on the tin top for the Just Nan Snow Tin. I really love the way the colors pop on this one. I have started stitching on the needle mitten and hope to finish it up this week.

We had a gorgeous weekend weather wise but I didn't get to enjoy too much of it. I am hoping this coming weekend will be nice and warm and I can get outside and get my hands dirty working in the yard.
I hope everyone has a good week! Remember to set aside a little time for stitching and or sewing. :o)

Bee Fob

The bee cross stitch piece is now a scissor fob. Boy! Did finishing this one give me fits. I won't go into all the gory details just suffice it to say these two squares have been sewn together more than twice! Whew!

This Saturday, March 21st is National Quilting Day. How do you plan to celebrate?

I have to work Saturday but will be tuning in to the special mystery quilt Val is conducting on The Quilting Bee Forum. If you don't already have plans, come on over and join us. She has already posted a link to the fabric requirements so you can be ready to sew. You can find the thread for the mystery quilt in the folder "Honey To Share". I am sure it will be a hive of activity Saturday morning. :o)

Yukky Day

Today was a yukky day. I have some sort of stomach bug and spent most of last night and this morning in the bathroom. No fun at all. I am feeling a little better now and hope it continues.

I started a new cross stitch piece this weekend. It is Just Nan's Snow Tin and Mitten. I don't usually buy kits of anything because I find them to be a bit pricey. This was a Christmas gift (purchased with money I received for Christmas). I love cardinals and this vibrant blue and red was just too pretty to pass up. This is how much I managed to stitch on it this weekend:

I had hoped to finish the scissor fob last night but made so many mistakes in sewing it together I gave up. I might give that another try tonight and see if I can get it finished up.

Have a great week everyone!

So glad it's Saturday

It has been a while since I have updated so I have a lot to show you today. :o)

First is the lovely biscornu I received from Svetlana from Hungary as part of the Tiny Treasures Exchange. Isn't it pretty? It is so bright and happy and I love it! I really like the color orange but don't tend to do much crafting in that color. After this, that just might change.

I finished stitching the Oak Haven Designs chart for April. It is stitched on 28 count lavender Lugana with DMC threads. The frame I had on hand for it is a bit too small so I will have to get another one before this one can be completely finished. I changed the color scheme a bit to suit the lavender background.

I also finished stitching this free and cute little bee design from
The Drawn Thread. I plan to finish it as a scissor fob as a gift for an online friend.

Pollyanna had said earlier she would like to see my WIP's so this one is for her. :o) This is another of the Prairie Schooler birds that goes along with the Cardinals I stitched earlier. I am wishing for spring so I wanted to stitch the Robins next. :o)

That's all for now. I hope to have a scissor fob to show you tomorrow.

Still here

No, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. :o) It has been another one of those weeks.

Monday we had snow here again. March came in like a lion and in our area we managed around 4 or 5 inches. I went out at oh dark thirty all excited to get some great pictures. I managed to get one picture before my camera told me my battery was dead.

In the midst of all the snow Monday Ziggy comes up with an abscessed paw. One of the mighty hunter's critters managed to get a good bite in and Ziggy was limping around with a paw the size of a ping pong ball. I took him in to work on Tuesday and we drained and treated the wound. A couple of days of antibiotics and pain meds (and a new collar) and he is good as new. I still don't know about this outside cat thing.

Wednesday and Thursday was just a blur of activity at work and a very tired Myra in the evening.

I have been stitching a little (helps me keep my sanity). I am working on a biscornu for the Tiny Treasures exchange - can't show pics yet. I am also working on another of the Prairie Schooler Birds and a special little gift for a friend who may read this blog so I can't show it either. I know, what a tease! I promise to show pictures as soon as I can.
