Birthday Bounty

We finally had a little sunshine here today so I could take a decent picture of my birthday gifts from my dear friend Norma. I first met Norma a couple of years ago through the Fabric In Altered Arts group. I have not been active on the group in quite some time but Norma and I have kept in touch via email and through our blogs. She is such a talented fiber artist - you should go visit her blog and see all the wonderful things she creates.

She sent me a cute pattern for tote bags, a little shoe keychain from her recent visit to California, and she made me this wonderful felt needle/pin
book. I had to take a close up of the needle book so you could see her beautiful handwork. Thank you so much for all my goodies and for making me feel special on my birthday.

To top it off my sons gave me a Books A Million gift card and DH gave me a gift card to Hobby Lobby. Books and craft stuff - it doesn't get much better than that!
I want to say thank you to all my blogging friends who visit my little corner of the web. I appreciate all of your comments and encouragement. :o)

Don't I look like a happy camper?! I think I was actually about a year old in this picture. It seems all the pictures of me as a teeny tiny baby do not involve clothes and since I didn't want to get into trouble with the blogger folks for posting a nekkid picture.... LOL

I can't decide if my expression indicates I was scared of the photographer or I needed to go to the bathroom. At any rate, I don't intend to be sad this birthday. I am hoping for many more.

Have a great day everyone!

Odd Socks

I managed to finish a Christmas stocking for my DH. He is an avid fisherman so I decided to use the Prairie Schooler Santa I stitched on his stocking. I need to find another small bobber to attach to the "line" at the bottom (I stole this one from DH's tackle box). The fishing lure at the top is an old one that my DH's father gave him when he was a little boy - it was well used by my father in law but my DH never used it. It has been curing in his tackle box for quite some time.

I have been working on a little autumn piece as well as a little Christmas piece. Some of you have asked about Dogs Day Out progress and I am sad to say it probably won't get much more attention until after the holidays. I realized it isn't long until Christmas and I better get busy with any Christmas presents I plan to make.

I just took an apple cake out of the oven and it is calling my name....

Have a great week!

Moving Right Along

"It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..."

Come on, you can sing along with me if you like! LOL

These fabrics have been in my stash for quite some time just waiting to be made into a Christmas stocking. This morning, they became what they were supposed to be. Now I have several ideas for Christmas stockings one of which involves the Prairie Schooler Santa I stitched for DH. I am trying to figure out how to incorporate it into a stocking.

The basic pattern for this lined stocking comes from the book Fast Fun & Easy Christmas Stockings by Susan S. Terry. They really are fast, fun and easy. I didn't do any embellishing or anything on this one as the fabric seemed busy enough and has gold metallic highlights that don't really show in the picture.

Maybe I can make 3 more stockings before the Just Cross Stitch ornament issue arrives and I am sucked in to stitching lovely little ornaments. :o)

Almost Ready

Happy Halloween
My dyed black 28 ct evenweave
DMC floss
Okay, I think I am done with the Halloween stitching and ready to move on to Christmas. :o) This was a freebie from this blog http://lunedautomne.over-blog.com/. It appears that she has closed the blog and is no longer offering her free design. I am so glad I saved it when I came across it last year as it is such a cute design. This is a simple pillow finish. I was going to trim it in orange ric rac and then this crazy stuff caught my eye. It was a booger to sew but I really like the wild and crazy effect.
