No snow here but I managed to finish this "snowy" ornament. I am working on finishing one more ornament before the year ends. I put the final stitches in it on Christmas Day and am working on sewing a beaded edge on it. I "told" myself I was going to use this last week of the year to organize my craft things and start "Where My Heart Blooms" on New Year's Day. All was going as planned until I saw this. Soooooooo, I started stitching this for the New Year instead of working on my organization. :o)
I hope I can finish it before Friday. (Not likely but one can dream. LOL)
Itchy, watery eyes. Runny, red nose. (I could pass for Rudolph!) Foggy brain. I have it all. It seems I get something about this time every year. I remember one year being so sick on Christmas day I had to lie on the sofa to watch the boys open their presents. I am glad it hit me this weekend instead of later this week. Hopefully, I'll be all better in a couple of days.
Despite my foggy head I managed to make a stocking for each of my boys yesterday. I have had good intentions of making a stocking for everyone for about 5 years now and finally! I did it! I had thought to "bling" them up a little more but really didn't feel up to it so this will have to do. I can always add some embellishments later.
Even though my boys are 22 years old now I really enjoy buying little candies and things to put in their Christmas stockings. Where it used to be Matchbox cars and Pez dispensers it is now boxer shorts and flash drives but still fun. Oh, and everyone always gets a new toothbrush in their stocking. LOL Does anyone else do that?
We had a bit of snow here on Friday and Saturday but it is all gone now. I suppose we got about and inch of snow but it was followed by rain which pretty much washed it all away.
I hope all of you are remembering to rest and take some time out for yourself during this busy season. Me? I am heading for a nice, warm, bubble bath right now.
Why do I seem so busy right now? I haven't really even started any Christmas shopping, it hasn't been overly busy at work, and I haven't had a spur of housecleaning to mention. Harumph! I have no idea but it seems I always have something I have to do that isn't necessarily what I want to do.
I received another ornament from my swap on The Quilting Bee. This one is from Evie and I was suprised and happy to see that it is a cross stitched one. I just love those tiny cinnamon sticks at the top - such a great finishing touch.
Last night we had our Christmas party for work at the local steakhouse. We stuffed ourself with delicious food and then played a rousing game of Dirty Santa. I contributed one of my Wonder Wallets to the mix and I believe it was the most stolen gift at the table.
No stitching to show as I am working on an exchange piece that you won't be able to see until February. I have also been sewing some project bags - pictures of those later this week.
I hope you all had a wonderful (not too stressful) weekend and will have an even better week!
We are getting down to the wire now, not that many days left until Christmas. This weekend I sewed a slew of WonderWallets. I just love these little things and carry mine in my purse every day. I actually made eight of these but packed one up to mail before I remembered to take a picture. These are like eating potato chips - you can't make just one! After doing so much cross stitch it was nice to sit down at the sewing machine for a while. Now if I could just make myself quilt a couple of these quilt tops I have sitting around...
I knew the moment I saw this biscornu that I had to add it to my holiday collection. I have a thing for cardinals and this is one of the prettiest designs for a biscornu I have seen. Check out Emily's other designs at www.theflossbox.com. You just can't beat her prices (90 cents for a biscornu pattern). I had to buy several as I loved so many of them. (No affiliation, just a happy customer).
Mini Ziggy has donned his Santa cap and gold bow and is sitting by the tree. We hope you all have a wonderful, creative weekend!
