Before & After

Don't you just love looking at those Do-It-Yourself magazines and comparing the before and after photos? I know I do and am usually amazed at how different some of those projects look. I am happy to report that I am feeling a little better today and decided to tackle one of those DIY projects myself.

I give you the before:

I purchased this little bench seat at an estate auction as part of a bedroom suite when DH and I were first married. It didn't look quite this bad when I acquired it. Glitter loved to use the front corners to sharpen her claws as it sat in the spare (junk) bedroom and became a catch all for anything and everything. I intended to recover the cushion when I bought it but you all know how that goes.

Now, I give you the after:

What a difference a can of spray paint and some fresh fabric makes! There were two layers of tapestry on the cushion - the first was tacked and the second was stapled. It took me an hour just to remove all the staples and tacks. It now matches my bedroom perfectly and I am so pleased with it. I have enough of the fabric left over to make a pillow or maybe a runner for the top of the armoire to match. The transformation even impressed my 22 year old son and that is saying something!

So, what did you do on this hot and humid day?

Way to go Myra!! Isn't it amazing what a difference ,change of fabric ,paint, and a little elbow grease can do?? I have one of those projects I need to work on as well. You just may have given me the nudge to get it done!

Would you believe I prefer the color scheme of the old one? lol! But it had definitely seen better days and your refresh makes it look so new and spiffed up. :D Great job, and glad you're feeling better!

We went to a nice market with an upscale food court--Inside, yay! The hot weather finally moseyed in around here.

Oooo I LOVE it!! What a neat looking bench, very unique shape. Today I'm going to shovel out the guest bedroom and do some applique and if the rain will hold off long enough, I'm going golfing :0)
