When the March Winds Doth Blow...

...then ye shall have snow. At least that is what the weather guys are saying for Tuesday. Waaaaaaahhhh! I'm cold and I want spring. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming.

Wow! I can't believe it has been over a week since I posted. I have been busy. Working, watching the olympics, having a stomach bug, watching the olympics, stitching, watching the olympics. You get the idea. :o) Have these olympics been fabulous for the US or what?!

I did finish my Easter exchange and gathered all the extra goodies I want to send along. I have to be careful when putting together these exchange boxes because I feel like I am gathering stocking stuffers. Somehow I don't think my partner would appreciate a toothbrush in with her cross stitch exchange. :-o I need to find a suitable box and it will go in the mail this week.

I also finished stitching this LHN March Sampler. Why isn't it in the frame you ask? Well, in typical Myra fashion I took the glass for the frame (or so I thought), cut my foamcore, and proceeded to mount my lovely piece. After pushing in about a million and one pins, lacing the excess linen on the back, and removing February from the frame, I realized it is 1/8" too big! How did I do that??? No problem I thought. I will just find the frame that fits the glass and use it for the time being. Guess what? I do not own a frame that fits that glass. I have no idea where the glass came from, I guess the glass fairies visited and made a deposit. I told you it ain't easy being me didn't I? So until I work up the courage to remove the lacing and all those pins I will just enjoy it as is for now.

I love looking at what all are you are purchasing from the Nashville Market. Lots of pretty things being stitched for sure. I also want to thank all of you for reading my ramblings and giving me such positive feedback on my stitching and crafting. You are the best and I appreciate you more than you know. :o)

I have been working on something for a little giveaway too. :o) I hope to have it all ready to go by next weekend. Have a great week!

Seasonal Display

A few of you had asked to see my little seasonal table display. It isn't really a table - it is a vintage New Home sewing machine & cabinet that belonged to my husbands grandmother. It really works, just not as well as my Bernina. :o) So it makes a great little table for my entryway.

The wooden basket was a recent $1.00 thrift store find. The pink glass candy dish was given to me by a co-worker a couple of weeks ago - it was her grandmother's and she used it to hold buttons. Mendy said she could remember playing with that dish and the buttons when she was a little girl. :o I saw the wooden heart box on Becky's blog and fell in love with it. Don't you know when I inquired about it, that sweetie found another at her Hobby Lobby (mine didn't have any) and sent it to me. :o) And of course, you can see Raffaella's needlebook front and center. I do love all my little things and they all have a special place in my heart. :o)

Happy Valentines Day!

From Me & Lola! :o)

Stash & Stuff

Did everyone watch the opening ceremonies for the Winter Olympics last night? I stayed up until almost 1:00, stitching and watching. (no pics of the stitching as it is for an exchange) I really respected they way they incorporated the history of the indigenous peoples of each region and thought it was a fantastic show. Now...let the games begin. I love it all and will definitely have a numb butt after watching as many of the events as possible.

I thought you might like a peek at the stash I got with my gift certificate from Becky. I chose the fabric, floss, and beads for the "Three Hearts" pattern that Raffaella sent me in my Valentine's exchange. I love purple and the colors are gorgeous and just perfect for my bedroom. And you know I couldn't resist the little Halloween pattern - especially when I could get the cut of linen for it too. :o I overspent my gift certificate by a little but now I have 2 new projects waiting in the wings. Thank you again Becky for making my day and week!

We had snow here again last night - about 3 inches here. It is so pretty but I am so ready for warmth and spring. I postponed going to the grocery store until today so I guess I will have to brave the mess and go soon. I am making steak and crab legs for DH for Valentine's Day tomorrow so I better get dressed and out the door before all the milk and bread is gone!

Because...

I have been so fortunate this week with gifts, exchanges, and giveaways. I want to "pay it forward" and have a giveaway of my own. Since I received so many nice compliments on the project bag I sent to Becky as part of my Valentine's exchange, I will have a drawing for two of them.Isn't this fabric fun?! It just makes me smile and I hope it will make you smile too. This bright paisley is a medium size bag measuring around 7"x10". It would be a great size for those smalls you are stitching or for a small applique or hand sewing project.

This large bag measures 9"x13" and uses a vintage look Wizard of Oz Fabric. I like this size to kit up projects, even the larger ones. Then when I am ready to work on that project, it is all here in one place. I remember watching the Wizard of Oz every year when it came on the television and when I saw this fabric I just had to have it.

Of course you can use these for anything you want. I made one for a friend and she pops it in her suitcase when she travels to hold little odds and ends.

If you are interested in winning one of these bags, just leave a comment on this post. I will draw a name this Wednesday evening and get it on it's way to you. The first name drawn will be for the large bag and the second name drawn will be for the medium bag.

Good luck! Thanks for visiting my blog and all your lovely comments. :o)

My Pretty Valentine :o)

Who says my Mini Ziggy can't be transgender? :o) Having twin boys didn't allow me to "play" with many girly things so I decided to make Mini Ziggy a girl for Valentine's Day. LOL I had so much fun looking for pink things with which to dress/decorate her.

My pictures aren't the best because we have had 3 days of nothing but grey, rain, sleet, yuk! I am ready for spring! No stitching to show because I am stitching on my Easter exchange piece and loving every minute of it.

This week has been a banner week for me. First, the lovely exchange from Raffaella. Then I won another giveaway on Kim's blog of this sweet little dish, needle threaders, and journal. I borrowed the pic from Kim as I know hers is so much better than mine would be.
Perfect timing on this giveaway as I had been shuffling through my "stuff" trying to find some sort of little notebook to use as a stitching/exchange journal. This one is just so pretty and the perfect size. I have already started using it. Thank you again Kim for such a lovely prize. Then dear sweet Becky gifted me with a certificate from Down Sunshine Lane. A big thank you and hug to Becky. I have visions of sugarplum floss and gingerbread linen dancing in my head. :o) I feel very fortunate to be able to take part in such a generous, thoughtful group of stitchers and blogging friends. I just love you all to pieces!
We are going out to eat as a family for the first time in a loooonnnnngggg time tonight and I am really looking forward to it. Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday but I hope to spend some time at the sewing machine before the big day starts.

I hope you are all having a spectacular weekend!

Just look at all these fabulous charts! Jolene was offering a giveaway of these chart grab bags and I was lucky enough to have my name pulled from the proverbial hat. I don't really have a chart stash so I was very excited to receive these. She also included a sweet Valentine card, a couple of pretty free charts, and BIG chocolate bar. Thank you so much Jolene!

My charts consisted of:
"Happy 2000 Banner" by Anis Duncan

"Birds of a Feather" by Fanci That
and a cute premade needlebook with a linen band for stitching by Adam Originals

Lots of cute things that will keep me busy for a while. :o) If you have few minutes stop by Jolene's blog. She does some fabulous stitching and many of her posts are very uplifting and inspiring.

Over The Moon!

I received my Valentine's exchange from Raffaella (no blog) today and I feel as if I could just jump over the moon! I am so in awe of her stitching and finishing and can't believe I was the lucky recipient.

Everything was wrapped in pretty tissue and tied with ribbons in this bag.

The star of the show is this absolutely, fantastic, gorgeous needlebook. It is the "Austrian I" design by Bleu de Chine from the JCS Jan/Feb issue. It is stitched over one and I just can't stop looking at the little intricate stitching and finishing. I am making mental notes so maybe one day I can finish something this pretty. The back and inside is just as wonderful as the front.

She also stitched a wonderful fob (sorry I can't make blogger line the pictures up properly). I love fobs and was just thinking yesterday, I needed to make one for myself for Valentine's day. Now, I won't have to and can proudly show off this one by Raffaella. :o)

She also included lots of extra goodies including a yard of lovely Moda Valentine fabric, Valentine stickers and napkins, a magnetic list pad, two pretty DMC flosses, needles, and last but not least Triple Chocolate Premium M&M's.

I already have a plan for the fabric and can't wait to try the Bohin needles and the M&M's.
Thank you so much Rafaella for making my day and for making my Valentine's Day so special. I have never recieved such a heartfelt, beautiful gift and I will treasure it always.
Thank you also to Becky for organizing this wonderful exchange.

Now if I could just learn to take pictures that would do justice to these lovely pieces. :o)
