Happy Mail

Hi everyone! I hope you are all experiencing the glorious spring weather we are having here. It is supposed to be in the 80's for the next 7 days.

I admired Jolene's picture of her new start on Shepherd's Bush "Lucky" on her blog a few weeks ago. It is such a cute piece and ya'll know how I love me some St. Patrick's Day stuff. :o) We chatted via email and Jolene, being the kind generous person she is said she would pass the chart on to me when she was finished. Well, it arrived last week and not only did she send me the chart, but the entire kit! I nearly injured myself with the happy dance I did. I can hardly wait to stitch it but I must as I already have 2 projects in the works and I am trying desperately not to have more than two cross stitch WIP's at a time. Thank you so much Jolene! I just love it.

Then, sweet Norma sent me an Easter surprise this week. Isn't this silly monkey the cutest? He brought along some jelly beans and this wonderful Bunny ATC Norma made. Check out his cotton tail on the back! LOL Norma is such a talented fiber artist, I am always awed by her creativity. Head over to her blog and look at some of her creations. Thank you Norma!
I am truly blessed by all my blogging friends and treasure each and every one of you.

Sunshine!

We didn't have very much sunshine here today, it was all grey and gloomy, but thanks to Nicole, Blu, and Tracey I have plenty here on my blog. Thank you ladies for making me feel special and for letting me know that someone does enjoy reading my meandering thoughts. :o)

I am behind in my blogging as I haven't felt great the past few days. I suffer from Plantar Fasciitas and I have had a flare up. Let me tell you, when your feet hurt - everything seems to hurt. My job requires me to be on my feet almost all day so I have been trying to rest today and hopefully get some relief. I plan to spend the next few hours stitching with my foot on a bag of frozen peas. :o)

I did finish my LHN April Sampler, just need to get it into the frame and I'll be ready for a new month. Time just flies when you are having fun, doesn't it? I am still plugging along with a stitch here and there on Where My Heart Blooms but ya'll just keep showing such pretty little things on your blogs and I keep getting distracted with smalls, and my monthly samplers, and my exchange pieces, and, and, LOL!

Thanks to all of you for taking time out of your day to stop by my blog. I treasure all of you and am always grateful for your kindness and generosity. I hope you all have the best week ever!

Linky Love

I have stumbled across some really nice freebies in the past week I wanted to share with you.

From Glendon Place - check out the gorgeous Easter egg in their freebie section. I started stitching this while waiting for my green floss to arrive from Carol. (It has arrived in record time, thanks again Carol! I plan to finish up the April sampler this weekend)

Look at this carrot from The Cricket Collection. Now go check out Sylvia's finish and her tutorial. Makes me wish I had seen this before I started the egg. :o)

V and Co has lots of tutorials on her site. I especially like these fabric covered eggs and basket.

Doncha just love that these wonderfully creative people share their talents with us so freely?

Have a great weekend one and all!

An Award

A big thank you to Faye and Andrea, two wonderfully talented stitchers and bloggers for nominating me for this award.

The rules for the award are as follows:
1. Thank the person who nominated you.
2. Paste the award to your blog.
3. Link to the person who nominated you.
4. Tell 7 unique things about yourself. (Faye said 7, Andrea said 10 so I am going with 7) :o)
5. Nominate 7 blogs and post links.
6. Leave a comment on your nominated blogs to let them know.

So here goes - 7 unique things about me:

1. I was the drum major for my high school marching band in my senior year. I was on the rifle squad for the 3 years prior and also played clarinet, bass clarinet, and alto clarinet in concert band.
2. I once owned a Harley Davidson Sportster. I bought it when the boys were 5 years old because DH had a Super Glide and all 4 of us couldn't ride one motorcycle. I love to ride and still renew my motorcycle license in the hope that one day I will own another one.
3. I dabbled in showing horses when I was in middle and high school. I liked the "speed" events - fastest horse around the track and barrel racing.
4. I was a steadfast quilter before this latest love affair with cross stitch. I cross stitched in the late 70's and early 80's and then the quilting bug bit. I have only started cross stitching again in the last 2 years.
5. I have always lived in North Carolina and to be honest with you I don't really want to live anywhere else. Unless I become a millionaire. Then I might want to live on one of those white sandy beaches where the cute cabana boys bring you drinks with those colorful little umbrellas.
6. I am an office manager at an animal hospital. I really love what I do although it can be quite stressful at times.
7. My cousin and I won a dance contest at our local YMCA when I was 11 years old. The song? Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas. ROFLOL at that memory!

Now I am supposed to nominate 7 bloggers. You are all beautiful bloggers to me so please accept this award if you like. I have enjoyed reading and learning more about several of you too! I'll warn you though - it is tough to come up with those 7 things.

Bean Sprout Anyone?

Carol is my hero! She has this in her stash and has offered to send me a length. Thank you so much Carol and thanks to all of you who checked your stash for me.

I had hoped to finish this today but it was not meant to be. See the green border? I didn't have enough of the Cresent Colours Bean Sprout to finish it. I was very careful with my floss as I knew the March Sampler used quite a bit of the green but I still came up short.

So, does anyone have this floss in their stash? Would you be willing to send me an 12"-18" length? I really hate to buy another skein and would gladly send you some finishing fabric or some other goodie in return.

My Stitching For The Easter Exchange

Hare Biscornu
The Floss Box
35 ct HDF pale green linen
DMC floss

My Easter exchange traveled all the way to Conny in The Netherlands. I stitched this biscornu with bunnies for her. I enjoyed reading her blog and about her bunny and knew this would be perfect for her. I loved the purple flowers with the green and brown.

And since you can't have bunnies without a carrot, I added a carrot button to the back. :o)

I had even more fun choosing the goodies to send along with her biscornu. I even included my carrot cake recipe. It was fun sending a little bit of spring across the miles.

Great Mail Day!

Today's mail brought my Easter exchange package from Ellen S. (no blog) She stitched this Lizzie Kate April Stamp and finished it into a little pocket complete with Easter ribbon handle. Isn't it cute? I just love the tiny little buttons. She also sent along some wonderful extras which will be put to good use. Thank you Ellen for making my day special.

This bounty of charts also arrived from Riona at Oubliette. I won her February giveaway of these Homespun Elegance Wooly Tyme Club charts. They are great designs and will be my monthly stitch for next year. (I have to get through the LHN Monthly Samplers this year) I can't decide if I want to give Mini Ziggy a new friend to wear these or if I want to do pinkeeps or little quiltys or, or, or.....OH! the possibilities. I am just thrilled to have won these. They will be offered as a giveaway here once I stitch them.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by and left a comment. I wish I could give one to each and every one of you. You inspire me to make thousands of these. (If I only had more time!LOL)

Thank you!

Thank you all for your lovely comments on my Painted Egg pillow and project bags. I have been pressed for time and haven't been able to respond to each comment but please know I really do appreciate all your visits and comments. If you haven't yet commented you have until Wednesday evening to enter the drawing.

As you can see, I managed to repin, relace, and frame my LHN March Sampler. It looks much better in the frame. :o) And...to avoid future mishaps, I cut 3 more pieces of foamcore the CORRECT size.

I hope you all had a happy Monday!

Time for a giveaway!

I spent some time at the sewing machine yesterday and had a blast. I made two sets of project bags and two quilt block pincushions. Sometimes it feels good to sit down at the sewing machine and completely finish a project in a couple of hours.

Since I had such fun sewing with this floral fabric while looking at the patches of snow outside and since we are all wishing for spring right now, I am giving this matching set away.

Do you feel lucky? Just leave me a comment on this post to say you would like to be included in the drawing. If your email address isn't in your blog profile, make sure you leave your email address so I can contact you if you are the winner. I will draw a name Wednesday evening.

May the luck of the Irish be with you! LOL

Sunny and Warm

Painted Egg
The Cricket Collection
28 ct Antique Blue Monaco
DMC Floss

I have loved this design since I saw it featured on Carol's blog. Thanks to Carol's help I was able to find the chart on ebay and just now got around to stitching it. I will always associate this cute little bird with Carol as he was the beginning of our blogging friendship. :o) I finished him as a pillow with dark brown trim.

We have had glorious weather the past two days in NC. Temps in the 50's with bright sunshine. I am so happy to see the sun! We still have a few patches of snow hanging around in our yard. My grandma always said when snow would last so long before melting it was "hanging around for some more to come and join it". I sure hope not!

I started stitching a spring scissor fob to replace the winter one I butchered. LOL I have also put a few stitches in Where My Heart Blooms but haven't made a lot of progress as I am in a smalls and spring mood. I have a ham in the oven for dinner and I plan to reframe my LHN March sampler while the ham cooks.

I'll leave you with a picture of the back of my Painted Egg pillow. I thought the egg fabric was perfect for this little piece. Check back later this evening...I have a little giveaway planned. :o)

Monthly Table

Thank you all for your kind comments on my March Ziggy. :o) I do enjoy doing something each month with that crazy stuffed cat. I wanted to share with you a picture of my table with my "things" for March. (I would have my LHN March Sampler displayed here as well but you all know the story on that one!)

I only have one true March/St. Patrick's day cross stitch piece to display. I will have to rectify that before next year as I do enjoy the wearing of the green. The postcards are from swaps a couple of years ago when I was swapping fiber postcards every month. The one on the far right I made and the others are from ladies around the world. I love my swap postcards and get them out from time to time just to paw through them and smile. I always include some sort of container on my table with candy - in this case Hershey's kisses w/almonds. DH quit drinking many, many years ago and stopped smoking around the same time. He says the only vice he has now is chocolate so I try to keep him supplied. :o)

Thanks for your visits! I am off to package up my holiday exchange and then rest up for another day of work tomorrow. I hope you all have a Fabulous Friday!

Marching In

Here is mini Ziggy all decked out (not really, we went minimalistic this month) in his March greenery. I have a Kennedy tartan scarf somewhere that he should be wearing but I think it is still packed in a box somewhere.

It is snowing here today. Ugh! So far, it isn't sticking to the roads but tomorrow morning might be interesting. I still haven't taken all of the pins out of my LHN piece and remounted it. That might just have to wait for the weekend. I did start a little spring piece that should stitch up quickly. I just felt the need to stitch something springy. :o)

I hope it is warm and sunny where you are! Have a great evening. :o)
