Be Mine :o)

To celebrate Valentine's Day I am having a little giveaway.  Up for grabs is one of the "I love to sew needlecases and scissor holders" I made, a pennie pocket stuffed with goodies, and nearly a fat quarter of the heart fabric you see in the background.

I would like to hear how you celebrate Valentine's Day (if you celebrate).  If you don't participate in Valentine's Day, tell me how much snow you have on the ground at your house.  :o)  Just leave this info in the comments and I will draw a name Monday night and get your goodies in the mail on Tuesday.  Hopefully they will arrive just in time for the big day.

Good Luck!

We try to avoid eating out on the "big" holidays, so I will cook a nicer-than-normal (I hope!) meal and just spend time with my dear hubby. And, to answer both questions (and maybe increase my luck, lol) we have 15 inches of snow and the tiniest extra amount of room to back the car out of the driveway. I've been letting that sweetheart mentioned above do the chauffeuring!!

What a sweet give away! If tradition holds true, my husband will leave a card and chocolates on the counter for me whan he leaves for work and I'll bake a heart shaped chocolate cake to have for dessert after a nice home cooked meal.

Enjoy your weekend!

You give away the best stuff!!! We don't celebrate, but I always send stuff to the great grandkids so it will be fun for them. Which makes it fun for me.

I made a few of the pennie pockets for the kids, but had a hard time getting the points sharp. Any tricks you found?

Well, we won't be eating out this Valentine's Day since DH is currently working in the restaurant industry. He will probably spend Valentine's Day night working. And, since it falls on a Monday, I will be spending a 10+ hour day at work since we are in the throws of tax season. However, I did order some homemade chocolate covered strawberries and oreo truffles. I'm sure that this will make up for the time spent apart!

Thanks for the opportunity to win your goodies!

Oh now that would be fun. I wouldn't have to make a penny pocket just win your beautiful work!!!!
Dh and I usually exchange small gifts and an extra cuddle on Valentine's day. No snow here in AZ but it's cold enough for it. All the lettuce crops have frozen. Watch the prize of fresh veggies climb in the next few weeks.

That is lovly Myra. Being on my own I do not celeb rate Valentines Day, and this year I am going to make a basket of hearts. I have been collecting degigns for a while now. As for snow, no snow here, 100$ humidity and very very hot.

Lovely giveaway! We here in Germany do not celebrate Valentine's Day as you in the US, but normally one gives flowers, jewellery or another little present to his/her sweetheart...

We do not have snow here right now (thanks heavens!), but we already had a lot, so we are quite happy with an average temperature of 0°C-6°C right now... :o)

I myself will decorate our apartment with some Valentine's Day decoration (espec. some stitchery...)...

Best wishes

Cathi

I would love a chance to be entered in your draw. Most years we have a nice quiet dinner at home, DH brings me flowers and chocolates. This year if all goes as planned by the Dr, I might be in the hospital having my baby.

I am a sucker for Valentines Day. At our house, I decorate a mailbox for each child, write a love note for each day leading up to the big day and a little treat. They love the anticipation of opening their gifts in the morning.

As for snow, too much. We probably have 18inches even though we had some rain.

FUN! Count me in :o)

We don't normally celebrate Valentine's Day because we don't feel you need a holiday to show your love for one another. This year was a bit of an exception ;o)

What a lovely giveaway!

On Valentine's Day, DH and I exchange sappy, romantic cards and have dinner at home. We decided a few years ago to go out to dinner the night before Valentine's to avoid the wait time. It's a much more pleasant way to spent the evening! Plus, we actually celebrate Valentine's for 1 and a 1/2 days!

Well, since Valentine's Day is our actual wedding anniversary, we usually celebrate a day or two in advance to miss the crowds and he always gives me a big vase full of red/white carnations OR roses mixed w/baby's breath and a pretty ribbon or teddy bear.
Then on the actual day we fix a really nice steak dinner for us and the kids. LOL Some yrs. we have even taken an overnite trip or a little day trip somewhere.
We have no snow right now, but very windy/rainy here today.
Thanks for entering me.

Wow Myra!
What a neat giveaway. I hope that you are having a good weekend. How is SoHRH coming?
For Valentine's Day Rich and I usually exchange cards. We don't reall try to go out anywhere special as we can do that any time. It is just important for us to be together.
I hope that you are having a great weekend.

We normally just buy a card for each other but I think this year we may go out for dinner as it will 25years on the 15th since we had our first date.
Please add my name to the entries thanks.

Such a pretty giveaway Myra.
DH and I usually exchange cards as we feel we don't need a set day in the year to show our affections! He's a sweetie and quite often brings flowers or a little prezzie home on his way in from work ~ I guess it works for us as we will be celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary in September this year.
Only pretty little SNOWdrops poking through in the garden now xxx

Valentine's Day is our anniversary - 23 years this year! And Ray picked the day, not me! :-)

We eat out one day other than the 14th for our anniversary and we have pizza & movies on the 14th - and have for 23 years. :-) We always have some kind of chocolate and we give each other a card. Sometimes we buy a gift, sometimes we don't.

Hope everyone has a special Valentine's Day!!

We always give candy and cards....my favorite is receiving my card from my hubby. He has always written special messages to me. We have been together 28 years (married 25 of those) and I have all my cards tucked away in a special box. The "love notes" in my cards mean so much to my heart!

valerie said...

Myra, what a sweet giveaway! Despite loving hearts and valentine's "stuff" I don't really celebrate it unless I'm in a relationship. As far as snow, there's no snow here but I keep wishing for a snow day! Thanks for the chance!

Myra, what a wonderful giveaway. The pennie pockets are beautiful and since I do not sew, I am thrilled to have a chance of winning one. Valentine's is quiet at my house since my DH passed away. We would usually go out for dinner and exchange little gifts.

My Valentines Day is usually pretty calm. My husband usually has to work. We exchange cards and I always get my nieces a little heart of candy or a stuffed animal or something and the same for my little grandbaby! Hope you have a great Valentines Day! Thanks for entering me in your giveaway! I love needlebooks and scissor holders, etc. but I do not own any so this would be awesome!

We don't do anything for Valentines Day, we say I Love You everyday. Without reading the other comments, I'm sure I have everyone beat, we have had 55"s of snow so far with at least 40 of it still on the ground and 40 more expected by winter's end.....I'm looking forward to spring :0)

Your little gifts are just adorable now for the snow there is not enough!! I want so much snow that I can`t get outta my driveway for a whole week...I`m ready.

Valentines day is very close to my DH birthday so we go to Mother Tuckers cause he gets to eat for free...what a costly date..LOL my neighbours BD is the same day so she comes with us.

We were engaged 39 years ago on Valentine's day. He usually gets me flowers and we go out somewhere to a nice restuarant. As for the snow we got another 1.5" last night giving us around 13" on the ground and more on the way.....Thanks for the giveaway.

Happy early Valentine's Day, Myra-you sweetie you!! I'd love to enter your giveaway... My husband and I exchange cards and I usually make a special dessert. Not this year though as he'll be on a skiing trip (and I'll be peacefully stitching away!!).

Mimi said...

Oh, please, please, please..can I be the winner of your giveaway!?!!! I love it!!

As for Valentine's Day celebrating, we usually just get each other a card and laugh about not getting each other anything. Our anniversary (this year it's 42 years) is on the 8th and we usually celebrate it by planning our springtime vacation.

Snow. We have had so much of it this year and I love snow. A lot. However, I'm getting really tired of the look of it right now. The snow is dirty and looks like rock. Yesterday we got more to cover up the gray, dingy look of things, so I'm happy.

I'm looking forward to spring!

Those are just precious. I love the pennie pocket and may have to to steal your idea. Just too cute!!!

Hubby believes Valentines should not be celebrated since it exists only to feed capitalism!

As far as snow....we had about an inch of melted snow (rain) but most is gone now.

Hope you are enjoying nice weather too... happy stitching.

cute giveaway!

I'll probably dig through my card stash and give hubby a card and a kiss. If he remembers he'll have gotten me a card! Not eating out too crazy out there! Probably just a normal day for us at the house.

No snow but I saw on the weather that more was coming.

Hubby takes me to the sale at the local quilt store on Super Bowl Sunday for a special Valentines "treat". I live in Lower Michigan so we have about 16 inches of snow! Love the snow and your blog.

We dont celebrate the Valentine's Day. I live in Ringerike, Norway and we have about 40inches of snow. Greate Giveaway.....

We don't do to much for Valentines. I ususally just by a "sweet treat" for each of my four kids! As for snow...we are surrounded by snow banks and the forcast is calling for more starting this afternoon...I think I see a few flakes starting to blow around already!!

For many years, when the kids were little I made sure to make a heart shaped cake or cookies; something to make it fun for the kids. Hubby just isn't the romantic type and he doesn't like the pressure. This year I think I'll make him his favorite pie...the kids are all out of the house now, so I don't have to try hard...

What an adorable needlecase and scissor holder! And the Pennie pockets are so cute too. My hubby always remembers the anniversary of our engagement, but it was on the 10th. So that is when we celebrate Valentines :-) No snow here in Florida. Just cold and damp days. Thanks for your very sweet giveaway.

Count me in (if only for the very cute pocket!)
I'm not a Valentine person, which makes it hilarious that I'm got a mad yen to stitch Valentine smalls right now lol!
I have no idea how much snow we have outside, but it's atleast a foot and the temperature is currently -14C/7F with a windchill of -28C/-18F. Ah the joy.

I celebrate Valentine's day with the kiddos and hubby. My youngest daughter still enjoys making valentines and we make some from scratch. So fun and pretty.

And I'll give hubby a card and some dark chocolate (NOT my favorite, but definitely his)

Valentines has also been more of a family and friends type of celebration-something sweet to share with loved ones instead of a day of "romance". My husband is very sweet but not always the romantic!

Carol said...

My husband proposed to me 45 years ago on Valentine's Day so it is always special. We go out to dinner the weekend before to avoid the crowds and are happy to be together. (23 years in the Navy kept us apart on special days too often.) Can't wait to get to the NC Quilt Symposium in Raleigh in June.

I never turn the big day into a big affair. I just like to acknowledge that yes I do love my other half and that he loves me. I always get him a card he did ask me what I'd like this year. I asked for a card to acknowledge the day. I've also got so much on the go the next few weeks that to find tiem to squeeze in even a dinner out will be hard.

quilterfaye said...

Not exactly eating out,but our volunteer fire department are having a lobster dinner to raise funds towards a new firetruck. We're getting takeout and celebrating at home.
I'll make a special chocolate dessert for my hubby. No gifts just cards.
Great giveaway!!

Crispy sent me over, what an adorable needle case. I would love a chance to win. You have a very lovely blog. I like to decorate with a few heart dishes filled with candy around the house and hang my valentine's quilt up to make it look festive. Sometimes we go out for an early dinner to celebrate. Takeout might be a really good option.

What a nice giveaway Myra! I can't say that I really celebrate Valentine's Day. I do like to have heart designs out in my house in February but that's about the height of my Valentine's excitement! My DH has never been one for this particular holiday, thinks it's far too commercialised but he makes up for it in other ways with specific dates that are special to us as a couple. As for weather, well hopefully no snow on the ground for us and some signs of Spring starting to show.

taliana said...

Valentine's Day is very low key in my house. Usually my husband is working, so we might just exchange a small gift or card. This year, however, he should have the day off, so we are planning on going to dinner. No gifts.

Your giveaway is adorable, Myra. Please count me in!
Valentines Day is special for us because my husband and I had our first date on the 14th and were engaged a year later on Valentine's Day. We always celebrate with dinner at our favorite restaurant and give each other small gifts. I'll be sending treats to my kids and Mom. All of my "loves" are special and I hold them dear.
Happy Valentine's Day to you dear friend.....you have such a giving heart

Hi Myra,

What a lovely giveaway!
You are so sweet. :)
Well, usually on Valentines Day my husband early in the morning says" I will be right back, I have something to do" and he heads off to buy me a Valentine Bouquet of roses. It is so funny because he says it like it were a mystery and I wouldn't know what he is going to get. LOL He has done the same thing since we got married. :) But I still act surprised when he presents it to me! VBG He also gives me a lovely card.

Hugs
