Brrrr!

It is a cold and blustery day here in NC.  I spent most of yesterday clearing out my file cabinet and trying to organize all the paper a household accumulates over the course of a year.  I did manage to put the final stitches into this:
"Basking In The Sun"
Brittercup Designs
28 count evenweave/CC floss
I loved this design from the moment I saw it because of the bleeding heart plant.  My mother had several bleeding hearts planted in our yard when I was a child and they just fascinated me.  As chilly as it is today it is nice to look at something so summery.  :o)

I also worked on a few more birds.  I made these a little smaller and have an idea for a somewhat different finish for them.  I have to make a trip to Hobby Lobby before I can try it out.  (I didn't make the one in the upper left - that is a glass ornament.  I have several of those teal colored birds that I have put on my little primitive tree for winter.)
I think perhaps a squirrel or a bird has found it's way into our attic.  As I am typing I can hear something rustling around.  Since I am having flashbacks of my raccoon encounter I think I will wait until DH wakes up to investigate.

I hope you are all enjoying a lazy Sunday!

Love the birds!
I just read the raccoon post and I could see me doing everything you did but I'm afraid I would have needed a change of big girl panties as well!
I don't blame you for waiting until someone else gets up to investigate.

Your stitchig is beautiful, Myra. The bleeding heart plant is so unique on this design. Isn't it wonderful that a design can conjure up such sweet memories!
Hope your weather warms up.

What a sweet finish :) I love bleeding heart plants myself, they are fascinating and delicate. You know how I feel about your birds and they are just as stunning on your tree and in smaller size :)
Have a happy Sunday!

Sweet finish Myra! It looks like spring. I will be interested to see what your new idea is.

Sweet finish, and I just love your birds!! They really make wonderful ornaments.

Hope that you're only hearing birds and not a raccoon. Those things can do a lot of damage. Although squirrels can too - we had a rash of them getting into our attic last year and they did do a bit of damage.

The birds are so pretty and I too love bleeding hearts - such pretty little flowers. Hope that whatever rodentia took up residence in your attic departs soon-- don't mess with them, let some one else do that!

That's a super cute finish you had, and I love the bleeding hearts. I've never seen any in person, so can only imagine what they look like. My mom always had fuchsias in hanging baskets when I was a kid, and I loved to "pop" the blooms right before they'd open.

I must have been offering to swap my warm temperatures for someone's snow a bit too much, since its been cool, overcast and threatening rain all day today. I think its supposed to be worse tomorrow.

Something about these little Brittercups make me smile. I love them too, Myra.

The birds are adorable and add so much to your tree!

It's cold here but no snow.. we're lucky so far!

Oh...those critters! Every time I hear something on the roof, I hope it isn't what I think it could be..they're all looking for a warm and cozy place. I think your one encounter has been ENOUGH!
