A Rainy Sunday

Hello dear friends!  We are getting some much needed rain today and I have enjoyed being inside and puttering around the sewing machine.

Yesterday I attended a sampler guild meeting which I enjoyed immensely.  Chris is one of the founders of the group and gave  a fabulous presentation on "Carolina Girls".   She spoke at length about Southern Schoolgirl Samplers (or the lack therof) and presented some wonderful and enlightening visuals.  It really inspired me to do some more research on the history of needlework in my area and I am already looking forward to our next meeting.  Hopefully, they will allow me to become a full fledged member.  :o)

I remembered to take a picture for the Totally Useless SAL this month:

Now it's time to settle in for some stitching.  I hope you all enjoyed a great weekend and are looking forward to a fabulous week.  Thanks for stopping by and for all your wonderful comments!

Oh I really enjoy talks about sampler history - so interesting. And your little framed piece is wonderful - a pretty umbrella for the April showers. Stay dry!

Myra, your framed piece is perfect for this weekend. We had a lot of rain the last two days.

The sampler guild lecture sounds very interesting. I don't know enough about sampler history and always enjoy learning more. They'd be very fortunate to have you as a member.

Hey Myra!
Thanks for your kind words about the sampler group. I really think knowing about the girls and where a sampler was stitched add another dimension to my stitching.
This is a sweet finish.
Have a great week!

I love hearing about the history of samplers. Our Guild occasionally has someone come in to talk and I'm always fascinated by what they have to say. Your little April piece is adorable.

Hello Myra, I have always loved your stitching; therefore I've decided to pass the Liebster Blog Award to you. I received it from a fellow blogger and we are supposed to pass it along to bloggers with less than 200 followers, so here you go. You can go to my blog stitching-4-joy.blogspot.com to see the rules.
