A Bright Spot On A Dreary Day

Hello friends!  Brrrr.  Fall arrived in NC last night with rain, wind, and temperatures in the 50's.  Makes me want to snuggle up in a quilt with a cuppa something warm.  (Which I have done a couple of times already today.)

After visiting Lone Star Merchantile with Chris I was inspired to do a little quilting.  Using a charm pack of Seasonal Gatherings fabric by Primitive Gatherings and some of the hand dyed buttons from Victorian Motto I came up with this:

It looks great hanging next to my Halloween tree.  :o)

Then, I decided to get to work on the holiday pillow kit I purchased.  It was fun to be able to incorporate my love of sewing on the machine with some hand work.  Toss in some gorgeous wool and I was having my own private party!

The pattern is by Buttermilk Basin and I just love the prim look of this pillow.  It will be a nice addition to my Christmas decor.  Even Mr. Crow had to join in.  ;o)

Doncha love the "tarnished" tinsel trim?

I hope you are all enjoying a lazy Sunday.  Thanks for stopping by!

Great pieces Myra! Sorry the cold weather got there. I think that we sent it from here - it's been downright cold the past couple days.

Oh, they are both adorable, Myra!! I think the hand dyed buttons add such a nice touch to the quilt and the colors are perfect for this time of year...

I couldn't warm up all day today...not looking forward to what the next six months will bring. I think I really have a harder time dealing with extreme temperatures the older I get! Hope your rain is gone by now and that you have some sunny days ahead :)

So sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday in time, Myra!

I LOVE your quilt (those fabric patterns are TDF!), and it sure looks like you had a great time with your holiday stitchery ornament. :) I want to try finishing something with x's along a seam like that, but haven't done so yet...Somehow I'm not sure where to do it in the finishing process. I see Stacy Nash and a few others do it often, and think it is just a neat touch.

I love the nip in the air...and the warm cuppa! Your projects are just darling. We crafty types can drum up a party on our own at a moment's notice, can't we?
