Bright, Sunshiney Day

Yes dear friends, like most of you we have been having some wonderful bright, sunshiney days.  Unfortunately, the last few have been very HOT!  So, I have been staying inside and sewing a bit.

I had an idea to make these stitching/sewing cases.  They are perfect to use with project bags as they help keep your needfuls together so you don't have to go digging around in your bag for them.

Each one is a little different but they all have a place to tuck your scissors, a package (or two) of needles, a spool of thread or several skiens of floss, and they have a wool needle page on which to park your needle.  I even made a couple of matching fobs for the blue ones.
I do plan to sell some of these.  If you are interested, please email me.  $15.00 plus postage - email address is in my profile.

I am eagerly awaiting my first bloom on my sunflowers.

Here is one just starting to develop!  I can't wait.

I can't believe today is the last day of my staycation.  I really did a whole lot of nothing but you know what?  I think that is exactly what I needed.  I do know that I have some long work days ahead of me as we are short staffed.   I will be checking in on all of you but may not always have time to leave a comment.

Have a wonderful week!

Picking Up Penny

Here it is the 3rd day of my staycation and I have been doing a whole lot of nothing!  And loving it!  LOL

Monday I did manage to sew up a couple of Kindle Fire covers - one for my son and one for my sister in law.  My SIL just got hers and I must say I am now addicted to Draw Something.  Do any of you play this on your tablets?  I would love to have more drawing partners.  :o)

Yesterday, DH and I headed to Salisbury to pick up Penny America which I had left with the lovely Robin at Spring Robin to be framed.   I am just thrilled with my frame selection and Robin said having this in the shop sold 2 copies of the pattern.  :o)

And here she is in her place of pride on the wall.  ~~~Love It!~~~

Today I am planning on having a numb butt by the end of the day and maybe a little house cleaning will be done.  Then again...maybe not!

Happy Father's Day!

I realize there are most likely NO father's reading my blog but I wanted to shout out a happy day to all the Fathers and Father figures out there anyway.

DH has to work all weekend so we really couldn't plan anything but I made sure he was well fed with his favorites.

There was steak...
...a nice salad, steak fries, garlic breadsticks, and for dessert..........

...his favorite banana pudding!  The boys are planning to treat him to a 3D movie at the theatre as soon as they can all manage to be off work at the same time.

Last week was an unbelievable week workwise and I didn't even get on the computer to check email, blogs or anything until yesterday.  I have quite a bit of catching up to do and plan to do just that this week when I am taking a week of vacation.  :o)

I had the random number generator choose a winner for the Bent Creek "United" pattern and the winner is Becky of Taking Up My Needle

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Blandwood

Hello everyone!  It is downright hot here in NC this weekend.  Yesterday our Sampler Group met in Greensboro to tour a local historical treasure - Blandwood Mansion.  It was a gorgeous day but with the heat I was glad our tour began early.
I always enjoy seeing the flower and herb gardens at these old estates.  It just amazes me that these beautiful grounds sit right in the middle of the concrete of downtown Greensboro.
It was great to see Chris again and DH came along with me.  He really enjoys touring these old homes and with our work schedules we seem to spend very little "fun" time together.

After our tour we headed over to Europa Cafe for lunch.  We had fun talking and laughing and the food was very good.
DH had the Mussels Italiano - Mussels steamed with white wine, garlic, tomatoes, and Italian Parsley.  I snuck a few bites off his plate.  :o)
I enjoyed the Frenchie Burger - 10 oz of Angus Beef, bacon, cheddar cheese, tomato compote (awesome!), carmellized onions, lettuce, and herb mayonnaise.  (Gosh, just writing that made me hungry!)
After lunch the group headed over to the Greensboro Historical Museum but DH and I headed home.  We had some yard chores that needed to be done and a couple of errands we needed to run before the day ended.

On the stitching front I finished up the Bent Creek United kit Chris gifted me.  I chose to finish it with a little hanger and trimmed it with some chunky cording and topped it off with a bow.  I have it hanging on the wall beside my patriotic tree.

I would love to pass this chart along to someone else who would like to stitch it.  If you are interested, just leave a comment and make sure you say you want to be included in the drawing.  I'll have the random number thingy choose someone in a few days.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend and wish you a fabulous week ahead!  Just be sure to take time to smell the flowers.  :o)

Summer

Where does the time go?  I didn't realize it had been so long since I posted.  I have been visiting all your blogs and seeing all the pretty things but have just been too tied up with work and other things to put a post together for myself.

Last weekend I put up my summer/patriotic tree.

I just love unpacking my seasonal ornaments and seeing them all again.

This weekend I decided to do some stitching of another sort.  The Sweetwater Label Crew project for this month is a tablerunner.
I really liked the fabrics in this one so I ordered the kit.  The fabrics are from their new line "Lucy's Crab Shack".   I started sewing on it last night and finished it up this afternoon.

They send you such cute labels for each project.

Even a label you can place on your project so everyone 100 years from now will know who made it.  :o)
These fabrics just scream summer and the beach to me.  Can you see "my" Carolina Beach in the top right of this photo?!
It is already happily adorning the table in my stitching corner and it makes me smile just looking at it.

On the stitching front - other than a secret project I am stitching, I started on Donna's (By The Bay Needleart) Mystery SAL.  I just love her designs and thought this would be a fun break.  How many of you are participating?  If you aren't , come on and join us.  It is sure to be a pretty piece we can all display this summer.

Thank you for stopping by and for all the pretty words you leave me.  I treasure each and every one.

Wishing you a week full of fun and happiness!
