Look ya'll!

"Valentine Sampler"
With thy Needle
I'm stitching on 40 count!  And actually enjoying it!  Go me!  Okay, so I know this isn't a big deal for most of you but it is for me.  I have at least 3 projects in my abandoned project pile that I started on 40 count linen and just gave up.  I'll admit it took me about 30 minutes or so for my eyes to get accustomed to the small thread count but now...I am really having fun with it.  Who knows?  I may have to dig those other things out of the pile and give them another try.

I had the random number thingy choose someone to receive one of my Valentine mug mats and that person is Mary at Stitches and More.

I loved reading all your comments and appreciate your visits and encouragement.  I hope you are all enjoying a great start to the week.

Cold and Icy

Hello friends!  It has been cold and icy here this weekend.  Work closed early Friday and the ice was so bad yesterday we didn't even open.  I took advantage of the extra time and did the finishing on my With Thy Needle Friendship samplers.

Victorian Motto cluny lace trim for this one.

Chenille - again from Victorian Motto.

I completed the stitching on this "Bluebird Serenade" and finished it up too.  I tried a new technique for me with the ric rac - I wove two different shades of pink together.

See how different it looks?  Love it!

And here they are, so happy together!
I also spent some time with my sewing machine and made up these mug mats for Valentine's Day.  This is the January Label Crew project by Sweetwater.

I had several scraps left over and since I am not one to waste such pretty bits...

I used them to make these sweet fabric valentines.  :o)
A winner has been selected.  Thank you!
Since I really only need one mug mat I would like to give one away to one of my followers.   If you are in need of a heart shaped mug mat, and are a follower of my blog, leave a comment on this post.  I will choose a winner Wednesday and pop it in the mail in time for you to use it on Valentine's Day.
I hope you were able to squeeze in some extra "you" time this weekend.   I thoroughly enjoyed having a few extra hours to do as I pleased.
Have a great week!

Potato Chips

from Friendship Sampers - With Thy Needle
Stitching these little samplers is like eating potato can't stop with just one.  I finished up this one yesterday and made a start on the next one today.  My plan is to finish these all as little pillows and display them in a bowl.
I seem to be having a love affair with Brenda's designs right now.  I ordered her Valentine Sampler with all the trimmings.  I was a little nervous when I found out it is stitched on 40 count linen.  36 count is my limit when it comes to higher count linen but I am going to give it a go.  Any tips or tricks you have for working on 40 count would be greatly appreciated.
This week's mail brought a sweet surprise from Kim :
Isn't it fabulous?  It will surely make a wonderful addition to my Christmas tree this year.  She knows me well, doesn't she?  Thank you so much Kim, you made my day!
Be sure to pop over to Kim's blog and have a look at her beautiful stitching (especially her Mary Beale stockings) and the cutest little girl you have ever seen.  :o)
We finally got some snow this week.  Just a dusting - I was hoping for a lot more.  Winter isn't over here yet and I am still wishing for a good snow cream making, slip sliding down the hill sort of snowfall.
Thank you for your visit and sweet comments - I love hearing from you.  Have a wonderful week!

Hello friends! Thank you for all of your compliments on my latest finishes.  I do appreciate them.

I certainly didn't intend to wait so long before announcing the winner of the Lizzie Kate pattern.  Without further ado....the winner is Sally!  Sally, I do hope you enjoy stitching this one as much as I did.

I started stitching a little Christmas piece but became distracted by this:

"The Farmer's Wife"
from Friendship Samplers by With Thy Needle
32 ct Khaki linen/DMC floss

I am trying to determine if I want to "age" it a bit with coffee before I finish it.  I do think it looks nice as is but...

I have also been distracted by these:
I bought these in anticipation of Brenda's next release.  I can hardly wait and I don't think I will have any trouble finding someone to help me eat the chocolates.  :o)

My New Year's Day Start

And finish!
"Glory House"
Chessie and Me
Linen and Silks as kitted
This tiny little over one bird nearly did me in!
And I framed it as well.  :o)

While I was in the framing mood I decided to finish up "Not all of us" as well.  I added a little rick rack and the homespun I auditioned:

I am not sure if I really like it. I think I will let it "age" for a day or two before I change anything. I left a large enough margin on the stitched portion so I can make it into something else if it doesn't "grow" on me as it is.
I would like to pass this pattern along if anyone is interested.  It would be the pattern only (there is also a pattern for a little pincushion included) no linen, buttons, or charm as I used those.  Just let me know in the comments if you would like to put your name in the hat and if there are several of you that want it, I will draw a name in a few days.
I have really enjoyed reading your blogs this week and seeing all of your new starts and stitching plans for 2013.  Which reminds me...I really should make myself a list of the things I want to finish this year.
Wishing you a week filled with lots of stitching time!
