A Rainy Sunday

We have had a rainy Sunday here in NC.  I spent most of my day working on Christmas ornaments.

I have been admiring Charley Harper's artwork, especially his birds.  I found his work so inspiring I just had to break out the graph paper and colored pencils so I could put floss to fabric.  Here is the result:

Doesn't he remind you of a soldier standing guard over "peace"?
I decided to do a beaded edging on this one.

And...I added a little surprise to the back.  :o)

I also finished the stitching on this piece and have it mounted.  I just need to decide on the trim.  I do believe ruched ribbon would look nice as I plan to finish it as an ornament.

I hope your weekend was as relaxing and productive as mine was.  Thanks for stopping by!

Wonderful cross stitch interpretation of Harper's Cardinal, Myra! He does look like a bit like a guard! Lovely finish.

Cardinals are my favorite. Great job. The beading is the perfect finishing touch. I need to learn how to do that myself.

LOVE the cardinal! You did a great job interpreting Charlie Harper's work - and I love Charlie Harper too! He lived in Cincinnati and we even have a building downtown with some of his birds on it -- too cool! Here's a link to it -

Great idea for an x-stitch ornament and you did a lovely job on it. Graphic artists are so great for inspiration. Love hearing that you design the old-fashioned way with graph paper... I'm a big fan of that method.

(The first word I have to type to prove I'm not a robot is "sin". Is there a subliminal message here?

I love Charley Harper Designs! Especially his giraffes. There is a cross stitch chart for them, so perhaps I should treat myself one of these days?!

I love the LHN series. Main Street Station is adorable, cardinals and all.

Wishing you a good week ahead. It's humid and drizzling here.

Gosh, Myra--I am so impressed with your design! It really does look like his work... As someone who has no drawing ability at all, I am doubly impressed. And your finished ornament looks great!

And isn't that little LHN piece adorable--I just love her designs and I see that one includes a wee cardinal, too :)
