Hello friends!  I put the finishing touches on Days of Liberty last night.
"Days of Liberty"
Chessie & Me
Fabric and floss as kitted
I just love everything about this piece.  The hornbook supplied in the kit just made for the perfect finish.  You know I had to take some liberty :o) with the personalization.  Can you spot my little addition?

My friend Norma celebrated a birthday this week.  I remembered she likes the color orange so I made her this little change purse.  Wishing you many more years of health and happiness Norma!

Thank you for visiting my little neck of the web.  I hope you all have a fabulous weekend.  I will leave you with these flowers I "pic'd" especially for you!

Patriotic Progress

Hello friends!  I see that I have gained a few followers - welcome!  Thank you all for your visits and comments, they keep me smiling.  I am behind in visiting your places on the web but I hope to rectify that shortly.

I have been steadily stitching.  This is what I WAS stitching:
LHN "Liberty"

And this is what made me put down "Liberty" mid stream :
Chessie & Me - "Days of Liberty"
I am loving every stitch in this one!  When I get bored with plain crosses there are satin stitches, over one, and Smyrna crosses to keep me entertained.  :o)  I hope to finish this one up this week just in time to hang on the wall for the 4th.
Last night, DH and I went to dinner at a new place to us called Steak Street.  The boys gifted DH with a certificate for Father's Day.  It was wonderful.  There was a live blues/jazz guitarist as well as delicious food and great service.  Here is our Voodoo Shrimp appetizer:

Very pretty and yummy too!  I was so busy watching the guitarist and enjoying my meal that I failed to take a picture of my steak - it was pretty and delicious as well.

Have a wonderful week!

Hello friends!  It has finally stopped raining here and the sun is shining today.  The grass in my yard definitely needs cutting but the ground is so soggy I don't think that is going to happen for a few more days.

The mail brought a wonderful surprise from Chris earlier this week.
I was over the moon when I opened this.  Difficult to see in the photo but the black thing is the hornbook used for finishing.  I can hardly wait to get this finished and added to my patriotic wall.  Thanks again Chris!  I love it.
The Piedmont Heritage Sampler Guild held their June meeting yesterday.  It was great to see everyone again.  The discussion topic was organization and some great ideas for storage were shared with the group.  We also had a "yard sale" of sorts and everyone cleared out their stash and brought along gently used charts and/or supplies.  All the proceeds are being put towards the teaching fee for a class we will have next June with Pam and Susan of Praiseworthy stitches.

Here is a picture of my loot.  :o)

The class being offered is comprised of  reproductions of 2 North Carolina samplers. (I hope I typed that correctly.)  The class is also open to non guild members so if any of you North/South Carolina ladies are interested shoot Chris or I am email for more information.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend.

Finish and Fail

Hello all!  Thank you so much for visiting and for your comments on my last post.

This weekend I worked on finishing a couple of pieces that had been languishing in a drawer.

"O Say"
Shepherds Bush

I think this one will look great on my Patriotic tree.
Now, for the fail.  You know how sometimes you have this brilliant idea that works so well in your head but the actual execution leaves you feeling "meh".  My next finish is one of those.

Freebie  but I can't remember where I found it  :o(
This one looked so cute in my mind but just didn't come together so well when I actually did the finishing.  I do believe I will take it apart and perhaps try it with another flower shape...perhaps a tulip shape would suit it better.
A while back I did some finishing for Chris.  Chris, I thought you might enjoy seeing these photos I took of the bunch all together.  :o)

And I will leave you with a shot of my photo assistant who was obviously quite bored and couldn't be bothered to pose for a pic.  :o)

Catching Up

Hello friends and folk!  I hope you are enjoying a lazy Sunday doing whatever your heart desires.  Thank you for your comments on my cardinal design shown on my last post.  I really appreciate you!

Not a lot has been happening other than work and trying to recover from work since my last post.

We celebrated Mother's Day...
My boys gifted me with this gorgeous Origami Owl locket with charms.  There are birthstones for the boys DH and I, a mom charm (or a wow charm, depends on how you look at it), and my favorite - the wee cardinal.
I enjoyed looking at the full moon...

It was so clear and bright.  My pic doesn't do it justice.  And...I might have howled at it just for fun.  a
I enjoyed a 3 day Memorial Day weekend and spent the last day organizing my fabric cabinet.
Here's the before:

What a mess!  Here's the after:

Much better!  Now I might actually be able to find something.

The highlight of the past few weeks was definitely lunch with Chris yesterday.  :o)  We went to The Table, a new restaurant in Asheboro.  It is housed in what used to be one of the old mill buildings.

Check out their chandelier - it is made from old milk bottles.

I had their homemade pimento cheese with applewood smoked bacon on sourdough bread.  Yum!  Here's a link to an article in the local newspaper announcing their opening if you care to have a look.
Chris and I then walked around a bit downtown.  It was a beautiful day made even better by spending time with a friend.
I have a couple of things I hope to get finished today and it is about time to bring out my summer tree and trim it with my patriotic ornaments.  I can hardly believe June has arrived.  Time to get busy!
Thanks for stopping by!
