Finish and Fail

Hello all!  Thank you so much for visiting and for your comments on my last post.

This weekend I worked on finishing a couple of pieces that had been languishing in a drawer.

"O Say"
Shepherds Bush

I think this one will look great on my Patriotic tree.

Now, for the fail.  You know how sometimes you have this brilliant idea that works so well in your head but the actual execution leaves you feeling "meh".  My next finish is one of those.

"Grow"
Freebie  but I can't remember where I found it  :o(

This one looked so cute in my mind but just didn't come together so well when I actually did the finishing.  I do believe I will take it apart and perhaps try it with another flower shape...perhaps a tulip shape would suit it better.

A while back I did some finishing for Chris.  Chris, I thought you might enjoy seeing these photos I took of the bunch all together.  :o)

And I will leave you with a shot of my photo assistant who was obviously quite bored and couldn't be bothered to pose for a pic.  :o)

I love the little patriotic finish and totally understand your feeling about the flower one. All those scallopy "petals" are hard to do but I wouldn't call it a "fail". I'd say you are auditioning new ideas! Your stitching is beautiful!

I did some finishing this past weekend, and had a 'fail' also! Yours looks so much better and fine, compared to mine, which I am NOT going to photograph and post! Suffice to say, I do not know what a Pear looks like when sewing!! Ha!You are brave to share with us! Hugs!

I'm in the midst of finishes too, Myra. I know what you mean but I keep on keepin'on!

The flower looks great...all the petals. It's a different finish from what you usually do maybe that's why you aren't too fond of it BUT it sure looks fine to me!

The finishes for Chris are beautiful as is her stitching.
I love your SB. It will be a perfect addition to your tree.
Glitter is saying that she is "finished" with all of the finishing!

I think that your assistant wants some of those crunchy treats that you are the keeper of!
I think that your finishes look great.

tee hee! Hello bored assistant! ;)
You do very fine finishing work Myra. And so much! It makes sense that once in a while you will make up one that you aren't thrilled with.

I know you aren't thrilled with the flower finish but I really think its cute!
Love your assistant.

"O Say" is adorable, Myra!! Your finish is just perfect... I think you'll have to get another patriotic tree if you keep on cranking out all of these finishes :)

And I don't call your flower finish a failure at all! I'll bet those shaped petals were hard to sew...I just stick with the tried and true--I really can only sew a straight line!!

There is nothing prettier than a pile of finished ornaments and your finishing of Chris's lovely stitching is perfect!! I know she is just thrilled with each and every one :)

Love the flower Myra! I wouldn't change a thing. But if you don't like it, it will bother you until you change it. Am I right? I also love the little patriotic ornament. Please be sure to show a picture of your patriotic tree.

I don't call that a fail - find another piece to do as the tulip, add some dowels, and make a sweet bouquet! All your finishing for Chris is very nice, too! Great job.

Such gorgeous finishes! I love the flower as is. I think it's adorable.

Cute sheep Myra and cute flower too! No way is that a fail ~ it's been handcrafted and lovingly stitched by you and that makes it unique and special! I think Charlene's idea of making another one, or even two, and displaying them altogether would work really well!
Have a good week xxx

Lovely finishes, maybe the flower didn't work quite as well as you wanted but it's still cute

What lovely finishing Myra! I'm another one who isn't calling your flower one a failure given how finishing-challenged I am.

The finishes you did for Chris are fantastic!!!
